I like big books...

This is one of the first things I ever pinned on pinterest. It still cracks me up every time I think about it!

I do like books.  I'm usually pretty good about reading consistently throughout the year. Although...I may go a couple of weeks or a month without reading anything but blogs and magazines. And then, I will read like 10 books the next month. I have never been one to let a book linger....I can usually finish reading in a day or two...I just can't stand to not know what happens! Ha.

I can't remember all the books I've read this year (another thing I'm going to work on documenting for 2012). But, I thought I would share some of them with y'all!

I had read all of the Sookie Stackhouse books (what the show True Blood is based on...btw...the show is really nothing like the books...I can't handle the show...but the books are pretty good).  Anyway, I had picked up the first book in the Harper Connelly series right before my wreck. Needless to say, I zipped right through these while I was laying around trying to heal. Pretty good. It's funny to think I will read books like this. I certainly don't think I'm a science fiction (vampires, wizzards, oddities) type of girl. BUT....sometimes it's a nice break from the chick lit. :)

I'll admit that I like the Kardashian's (sans the whole wedding debacle...still not sure what to think of that). C got me their book for Valentines and it's pretty good. They almost seem like down to earth "real" girls....and then you remember they are bazillionnaires.  For what it's worth, Kourtney and Khloe' are my favorite. Ha.

I kept seeing this book on goodreads.com, and finally picked it up at the library. Pretty good. It's also really short (like 180 pages or something). I read it Tuesday...and it was good. Made me think A LOT. I also just realized there are more books in the series? I'm not sure if they are connected or not...but I might check those out soon.

I just discovered Mary Kay Andrews this year and read a couple of her books. They are fun reads!! Kind of mystery/suspense...but mostly just fun. There are still a few more books of hers I want to read this coming year...

I read Jen's new book this past summer. I also re-read Bitter is the New Black. That book is hilarious. There is a part in there where she lists the rules with her and her husband and I had to read them to C because they were all things I have said to him!

This is another one of those series I kept thinking I wouldn't like. The same as Harry Potter and Twilight. Wizards? Vampires? No thank you! Ha. You'd think that by now I'd recognize the fact that a good book is a good book.  I read these the week before Christmas. They are really good y'all. If you haven't read them...I highly suggest it. Especially since the first book has been made into a movie (coming in March!).

So, one of my new years resolutions is to read (and track!) more. I am setting a goal of 52 books. That is one a week...and seems like a lot...but I don't seem to have a problem watching TOO much reality television. So, I'm hoping to just get as close to the goal as possible!

Here are some of the books I am looking forward to this year (some are new, others are just books I have and/or want to read).
A new Sophie Kinsella book! Coming in February!
Another Sookie book...excited!
Got this book from Caprice (in a contest) and still haven't read it!
Saw this book on Jenn Lancaster's site and want to read it. Jenn also has a new book coming out this summer! Yay!!!
I'm excited to finally read book 18...though to be honest, they are getting a little repetitive. I am excited that One for the Money (the first book in the series) has been made into a movie and comes out soon (with Katherine Heigl). Janet also has another series that is a spin off from the Stephanie Plum series. I've read the first one (Wicked Appetite) and the second one comes out this summer!
I read the girls' book and now I have mama's book! There is also a novel written by the girls. Not sure if I I'll get to that one. Ha.
I know. I admitted earlier my addiction to reality tv (mostly the Real Housewives). Even though she is kind of annoying this season...I'm still excited to read this.
I've read a couple of Beth's books. Always enjoy them.
Really excited about reading this one! I love Candace...always have. Do y'all follow her on twitter?

Okay...so clearly I'm all about quality reading. In my defense, I am planning on going back to school and finishing my masters degree, so there will be plenty of reading that doesn't also fit into the entertainment column. I will share more about that in the next week or so. I also hope to do a post or two every month reviewing the books I read that month. :)

And, finally...as if this post isn't gargantuan enough....a couple of questions.

1. Do y'all have an electronic reading device (nook, kindle, ipad)?  Do you like it? I was SO against them (love books!!) But, I am starting to think I want one....just wondering what y'all think!

2. Any book suggestions? :)

I just finished Waiting for Normal which is actually a YA novel, and it was wonderful! It was written by Leslie Connors who also wrote a book in prose called Dead on Town Line (great!). I own a Kindle, and was a devotee to my "book holding/smelling" obsession, but I have evolved, and love my Kindle now. I suggest the Kindle Fire if you decide to buy, and Amazon prices are the best out there! Thanks for the blog, I love reading it. Happy New Year!
