Survey Says....

I saw this survey on Kenda's site and I thought it would be fun....

Eggnog or hot chocolate?  Hot chocolate with cinnamon and whip cream!

Colored lights on tree/house or white? Growing up we had multi-color lights on the tree and outside...but right now, I really like the look of white lights..which is what we have on our tree.

Do you hang mistletoe? Nope

When do you put your decorations up? We usually put them up early December. We pretty much got everything up last week!

What is you favorite holiday dish? Cheesy hash-browns or mashed potatoes. I love me some carbs!

Favorite holiday memory as a child? So many of them! My grandparents used to host a HUGE Christmas party on Christmas eve for all of their family and friends. Tons of people would drop in and Santa would show every year too. I would always go to that party for a while and then my Dad would pick me up and we always celebrated Christmas with his family on Christmas eve.

When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? Well, the girls on my soccer team in 6th grade (I think) tried to tell me that he didn't exist. BUT...I'm 32 and he still shows up at my parents house every year. Explain that! :)

Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? I still celebrate Christmas with my Dad and his family on Christmas Eve so we open gifts that night...but it's just because that is when we all get together.

How do you decorate your Christmas tree? I really like traditional colors: red/white/green...so that is what I decorate with. Plus we have some other fun ornaments...lots of sparkly ones, some metal hearts and snowflakes. And...a couple of Dallas Cowboys ornaments..

Snow! Love it or dread it? I like it. We rarely get snow. We usually get ice...which I'm not a big fan of.

Do you remember your favorite gift? I have lots of favorite gifts. I got a Brighton purse from C one year (plus a matching Brighton watch)...he also got me a laptop a few years ago...but I honestly think that every gift is a favorite...especially when you can tell someone put some thought into it.

What is your favorite holiday dessert? I don't think I have a favorite dessert. My grandmother makes these cookies and they are pretty yummy.

What is your favorite holiday tradition? Up until I got married, my sister and I would sit in the hallway at my parents house while all the adults (and the last few years...we were technically adults...both in our 20's) got their cameras ready and we would come into the living room together and see what all Santa brought (he didn't wrap gifts at our house). Ha. I miss that.

Candy canes: yuck or yum? They are okay. I like to put one in my hot chocolate!

Favorite Christmas movie? So many! Elf, Home Alone, Love Actually, Fred Clause, The Santa Clause.

Saddest Christmas song? Merle Haggard's "If we make it through December" and the Christmas Shoes songs. Christmas music should be uplifting!! and Joyful!!

What is your favorite Christmas song? I LOVE Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas is you", I also like Taylor Swift's "Santa Baby" (it's my ringtone) and "Blue Christmas" by Elvis (although it's kinda sad...but it's Elvis!!!) and Vince Vance and the Valiants "All I want for Christmas"...

Christmas surveys are fun ... as are holiday traditions, decorations, parties, presents and food (especially the presents and food! haha). But, none of this would mean anything if it weren't for the reason for the season: Jesus! He is my favorite favorite!!
